Today's subject is: Skin Care or is it Wellness? Not sure with this blog post. You be the judge. I'm learning a lot about skin care from my daughter. She takes excellent care of her skin. And young people can be very resourceful these days. She was telling me about a new product that she is using called: Curology They treat you personally. You answer questions about your skin, and get a personal provider. I love that concept! And while I have the resources at my fingertips too. I'm not always in the know. My skin has good days and awful days. Skipping past the bad days to straight awful days. And awful is just that. I run for my MAC make-up as a back-up when I have those days. I have tried different products with success. But somehow, my awful skin days, returns to me faithfully. I only struggled with my skin as an adult. As a teenager, my skin was PERFECT! Other teen girls would ask me my secret. But I had none. I had the typical teen diet. Big Mac's, French Fries, with a ice cold Coke on the side. Those we're the days that I could eat whatever I wanted, and not gain a pound.
I did use ambi as a teen, shout out to them. They did get me through those occasional skin outbreaks. Unbeknownst to my teen self, this diet would catch up to me years later. Yikes!! Water wasn't my friend, except that one time. My mom replaced all beverages except water from our house. She said that we we're not drinking enough water. Just imagine, it's summer in the 80s when kids played outside all day long. Kool aide was my drink of choice, cherry to be exact. But moms put a stop to that. So our only beverage was water. Sometimes we sneaked to the corner store and bough a 25. cent hug drink. This was a popular drink in the 80s. A few hugs could get you through the high summer temps, and refresh you while playing hours of hide-and-seek.
Moms replaced our beverages with H2O (water) for the entire summer. We even had one of those water dispenser thing-a-ma-jigies. Mom wasn't playin, we needed to hydrate and there were NO other options. Coincidentally, my skin, nails and hair grew and started glowing even more. Can't believe I even remember this, but I do. The entire summer with mostly water, did my teen body some good. I write all of this to say, these things catch-up with you. In one way or another. Backache, knees, severe headaches SKIN and much, much more. I learned about wellness in my early 30's. I was really into all things health & wellness. And my health was at a pretty great place.

I got so good with taking care of myself, that I landed a cable TV spot. Imagine that! I was writing producing and hosting, my own health & wellness television program. I talked about everything wellness. This was so much fun, and I got to meet some awesome people. It kept me accountable, being in front of the camera, once a week. I had to make sure that I was not a hypocrite. I worked out, ate good and really took great care of Keeva.
I even tried veganism for a spell. And absolutely loved it. I changed my health for the better in my 30s. But slowly returned to a poor diet and unhealthy lifestyle. I know I got off the subject of skin. But for me, better health is better skin. We are all made differently. But we are all made amazingly. We take care of our bodies, it takes care of us. It's hard, and noooo one can do it perfectly. But it's perfectly doable. Now a-days I am working on getting back to that teen that drank the water. But no matter what, awful days goods days. Love the SKIN that you're in.
