Keeping Kiddos Positive

Children can pick-up on negative energy and emotions. It's important to think positively during the coronvirus crisis and really any crisis, we may find ourselves in.

Especially if we have little ones who are depending on help with homework and fun family nights, filled with tickles and giggles. That's right, we have to stay positive, motivated, upbeat and enthusiastic for our kiddos. Even if inwardly those feelings aren't true. I have read through tons of memoirs of adults who lived through some pretty tumultuous times. And many had no clue of the severity of those tough times. What I duly noted was, how most of the parents portrayed a happier time. It wasn't until those children, now adults we're later told of the hardships their families faced. Some excerpts, I read from people who grew up during the Nazi regime. A time when Adolf Hitler and his Nazi party controlled the country.

At that time, Germany had become a totalitarian state. Most of the way people lived was controlled by the government. And it was a harsh period of injustice, partiality and cruelty of people. Many men, women and children died and we're killed. To read that those who lived through it, young at the time, didn't realize how critical the times we're, is almost unbelievable.

How was it possible? How we're they able to depict a happy childhood, full of love and gratitude? It was the parents outwardly display of positivity that kept things into prospective. Those parents probably cried many tears privately, accompanied with worry and fear. They had many reasons to feel that way. But those little people had no no clue. So while older children may need the talk, the talk about what's going on in the world. Younger children may just need to know, that things are just as normal as they expect.
